Mickey was 6 weeks old when we got him and he fit in the palm of my hand. Not in my hand; in the palm of my hand. He looked like a fury little mouse. We would put him in our shirt pocket, so small you couldn’t tell he was in there until he peed. It only took one time being peed on to decide that wasn’t so cute. Silly us; not only did we think that we could put a six week old puppy in our pocket, we thought since he was so small he was going to stay small. We didn’t get to see the parents; so we don’t know how big they were, but we were told that he was a teacup Pomeranian. A Tea cup Pomeranian weight is from 3 to 4ilbs and Height is from 5 to 7 inches at withers. Pomeranians weigh from 5 to 7ilb and height is from 8 to 11 inches at withers. Mickey is 13ilb. Not 4 llbs and he is 12 ½ inches. Mickey may have grown bigger then we wanted, but he didn’t grow bigger then we need. The kids took him everywhere. He was in baskets, over shoulders and of course following them everywhere. For us it was a good thing Mickey is not a Tea cup, but a full size plus some Pomeranian. My daughter will share the story of taking Mickey on bike rides at a letter post.
Greetings!
Welcome to my blog, 'A Lifetime with pets', which is about exactly that. My four children are all finally reaching the stage in life where they think about spreading their wings, and that has given me some time to reflect back upon the amazing journey that we have come through as a family and I came to the realization that many of our most important stepping stones included some extra family members- our pets.
This blog is intended to be a friendly place where we can all share the stories of our beloved pets and how they have influenced each of us. Follow along as I recount various milestones or tremendous moments that have occurred during the raising of my family, and how our pets were involved in each of them.
It is my firm belief that having so many pets around during the influential part of their childhood has had a tremendous positive development on each of my children. I hope to encourage you with our experiences. Feel free to comment and send me your own stories.
